| This sample was taken a short distance from where we perform chemical tests each month on the quality of the water. We intend to carry out biological tests at this site on a regular basis to monitor the long term effects that water quality has on invertebrate life in the stream. The BMWP Score indicates water of ‘Fair biological quality' but an ASPT of over 5.4 is classed as very good. This is a good result although the biodiversity was expected to be better. This is the first biotic survey we have undertaken on the Shortbridge Stream, close to our chemical testing sampling site. The results demonstrate a healthy environment with good biodiversity.
